Exciting Opportunity in Clinical Lab Science

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cytogenetics Technologist Trainee to join our team at LabCorp in RTP, NC. As a key member of our Clinical Lab Science team, you will be responsible for performing routine procedures, determining specimen acceptability, and operating complex instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform tissue culture, harvesting, slide making, and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
  • Determine specimen acceptability according to established criteria.
  • Monitor and operate instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies.
  • Assist with specimen processing when needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory requirements.
  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required.
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficient with computers and laboratory information systems.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
