Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician - Custodian - Evening Shift is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of assigned buildings and facilities within the N.C. Community College System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweep, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment to maintain a high level of cleanliness.
  • Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures, including sinks, urinals, toilets, mirrors, walls, and drinking fountains.
  • Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles in assigned areas.
  • Sweep walkways and entrances to buildings and classrooms, and pick up debris around building.
  • Operate and control high and low speed stripping/buffing machines to maintain floors.
  • Set up tables, chairs, and equipment in various settings for special events and normal campus activities.
  • Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities.
Working Conditions

The job is performed under some temperature extremes and requires moderate physical effort, including long periods of standing, walking, and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of custodial experience is preferred.
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently but also be a team player.
  • Good communication and comprehension skills.
  • Must have a valid NC driver's license.
