Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our Accounting department, you will be responsible for handling complex Government accounting practices and providing essential support to Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Manage accounts receivable, cash receipts, accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing, and revenue tracking.
  • Project Support: Provide critical support to Project Managers during project setup, modification, execution, monitoring, and closeout phases, identifying and addressing potential issues promptly.
  • Joint Venture Accounting: Participate in joint venture accounting activities, including comprehensive financial statement preparation and the setup of new and existing joint ventures in Costpoint.
  • Reporting and Reconciliation: Ensure accurate quarterly and annual joint venture reporting to Corporate and assist with monthly reconciliations, including IFRS16 reconciliations.
  • Tax Reporting: Support tax reporting efforts by obtaining necessary documentation for submission to the tax department or CPA firm.
  • Subscription Revenue: Facilitate subscription revenue setup and processing.
  • Special Projects: Contribute to additional special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of previous experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint, familiarity with various types of government contracts, and knowledge of the FAR, DFARS, JTR, DCAA Audit Guidelines, and GAAP.
  • Soft Skills: Strong presentation skills, ability to handle impromptu requests, excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional organizational and time management abilities, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
What We Offer

At Stantec, we offer a competitive salary range of $62,800 - $97,700, depending on location and experience.
