We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at St. Luke's Health-Memorial. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in the treatment of patients with cancer, working closely with our medical team to deliver high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities- Operate radiation therapy equipment to simulate and/or treat patients for disease
- Provide patient orientation, explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of treatment
- Perform therapy, including positioning patients, calibration of equipment, and documentation of findings
- Maintain patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, and adherence to department policies and regulatory guidelines
- Provide emergency care and notify appropriate personnel as needed
- Assist in dosimetry procedures, including obtaining patient parameters
- Educate patients regarding simulation, treatment procedures, and possible reactions
- Observe patient for treatment reactions and report reactions to physician/nurse
- Deliver a prescribed planned course of radiation therapy, including review of prescription, diagnosis medical record, and patient identification
- Prepare room and equipment for patient treatments, including set-up of immobilization devices, field size treatment distance, shielding devices, etc.
- Monitor patient and equipment during treatment and/or simulation, reporting any unusual circumstances
- Complete daily quality checks on treatment and simulator equipment and maintain accurate documentation of quality checks
- Coordinate patient simulator/treatment schedules
- Participate in the clinical education of radiation therapy students
- Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited Program in Radiation Therapy or a suitable equivalent
- One (1) year related work experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) program
- Licensed as Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with Texas Medical Board (TMB)
- Registered in Radiation Therapy R.T.(R)(T) through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Two (2) years of experience in discipline
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
