The Nursing Simulation Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing the daily functions within the Nursing simulation environment, ensuring the readiness, functionality, and upkeep of all simulation tools and materials, including manikins, simulators, control systems, and audio-visual technology as necessary. This role involves collaboration with the National Simulation Director, Campus Simulation Champion, Nursing Leadership, and faculty to foster excellence in simulation-based education.
Key Responsibilities:
Simulation Center Management - 80%
- Facilitates the execution of all simulation-related activities.
- Prepares, organizes, and maintains the simulation and debriefing spaces before and after each session.
- Ensures all simulation equipment, including manikins and simulators, is maintained in optimal working condition.
- Organizes storage areas and ensures cleanliness in all simulation environments.
- Provides operational support and training to faculty on simulation equipment.
- Works with the National Simulation Director to keep accurate records of equipment warranties and maintenance schedules.
- Coordinates routine maintenance and repairs for all simulation devices.
- Conducts orientation sessions for learners and faculty on the use of simulation equipment and environments.
- Monitors inventory levels and manages supplies effectively.
- Handles the receipt and stocking of simulation materials.
- Engages in community outreach and campus tours as required.
- Participates in ongoing training to maintain proficiency in simulation technology and best practices.
- Collaborates with Nursing Leadership and other stakeholders to enhance simulation delivery across the institution.
- Acts as the Infection Control Officer for laboratory waste management and training as mandated by regulations.
Responsible for software and firmware updates for simulation technology.
- Diagnoses and resolves technical issues related to simulation equipment, liaising with vendors and campus IT support as necessary.
The Nursing Simulation Operations Manager reports to the Nurse Administrator, collaborating closely with the National Simulation Director and campus leadership. This position does not have direct reports.
Qualifications:
- Preferred qualifications include a professional certificate, diploma, or applied associate's degree.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical healthcare setting is required.
- Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) is advantageous.
- Proficient knowledge of medical simulation equipment is essential.
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities are important.
- Familiarity with nursing concepts, terminology, and techniques is expected.
- Capability to set up and operate video equipment is necessary.
- Ability to maintain safety and hygiene standards is critical.
- Physical capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds is required.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed is essential.
