Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

At Vidant Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to join our team.

Job Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for administering diagnostic and rehabilitative services to patients referred for speech and language therapy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in speech and language pathology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients with speech and language disorders, including language, phonology, fluency, resonance, voice, swallowing, and alternative/augmentative methods of communication.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify patients' strengths and weaknesses, and develop treatment plans to address areas of need.
  • Provide direct patient care, including individual and group therapy sessions, and consult with patients and families to educate them on speech and language therapy techniques.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records of treatment plans, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to speech and language therapy.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology or related field.
  • Current licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state of North Carolina.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Progressive knowledge of speech and language pathology and a willingness to participate in continuing education and training to remain current in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a medically based speech and language pathology setting.
  • Prior direct patient care experience with medically complex patients.
  • Prior direct patient care experience with trachs/vents and instrumental swallowing evaluation techniques.
