Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Special Education Assistant to join our team at Champaign Unit 4 Schools. As a key member of our educational support staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including those with visual impairments
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning, implementation, and assessment
  • Help students with daily living skills, such as personal care and mobility
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Paraprofessional License or ability to obtain license
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and parents
  • Possess good human relations and communication skills
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds or more
  • Ability to use approved student restraints
  • Ability to bend, stoop, turn, squat or lift in order to serve student needs

  • The hourly wage for this position is determined based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Champaign Educational Support Professionals
