About the Role

We are looking for an attorney with expertise in land use, zoning, and comprehensive planning and development matters. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal advice and counsel to County staff, the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, and other advisory boards and commissions. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and processing land development applications, interpreting and enforcing the County's land development ordinances, and representing the County in land use litigation, zoning appeals, and Code enforcement proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate review of subdivision site plans and surety instruments
  • Review proffers and special exception conditions
  • Draft and review proposed ordinance amendments
  • Amendments to the Comprehensive Plan
  • Negotiate, draft, and/or review deeds, easements, and land development agreements
  • Draft or review staff reports for the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • At least six (6) years of experience as a licensed practicing attorney, including at least four (4) years of experience in local government or a specific relevant practice area
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience
