  • Administer Medication Therapy: Administer medicated aerosol therapy using small volume nebulizers, breath actuated nebulizers, and vibrating mesh nebulizers to pediatric patients.
  • Education and Training: Educate patients and their families on aerosol, MDI, and DPI therapy, including proper use and management of DPI, MDI, and holding chamber devices.
  • Medication Management: Manage medication carts, Omnicell, and bar coding medication administration to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of medications.
  • Airway Clearance Therapy: Deliver airway clearance therapy, including clapping, vibration, directed cough, PEP, oscillatory PEP, hyperinflation therapy, and high-frequency chest wall oscillation to pediatric patients.
  • Interventional Procedures: Conduct intermittent percussive ventilation, acoustic airway clearance, and cough assist to support pediatric patients with respiratory distress.
  • Airway Management: Manage airway care, including suctioning, tracheostomy care, manual ventilation, and intubation assistance to ensure safe and effective respiratory support.
  • Mechanical Ventilation: Operate mechanical ventilation, perform ventilator system checks, CPAP/BiPAP/NIMV, and negative pressure ventilation to support pediatric patients with respiratory failure.
  • Advanced Respiratory Care: Initiate and manage NAVA (Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) and perform high-risk delivery protocols, including surfactant administration and NRP protocols, to support pediatric patients with complex respiratory needs.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Conduct blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation to inform respiratory care decisions.
  • Humidity Therapy: Deliver humidity therapy using heated humidity, aerosol masks, trach collars, T-pieces, and face shields to support pediatric patients with respiratory distress.
  • Clinical Practice Guidelines: Follow clinical practice guidelines for asthma care, CF care, RDS management, BPD prevention, acute chest syndrome care, HFNC protocol, and respiratory care consult service to ensure evidence-based care.
  • Specialized Therapies: Implement nitric oxide protocols and monitor patients using pulse oximetry, peak flow meters, capnography, and ventilator graphic interpretation to inform respiratory care decisions.
  • Transportation and Response: Manage patient transport using HFNC portable units, T-piece ventilation, and respond to neonatal rapid response team calls to ensure timely and effective respiratory support.
  • Oxygen and Gas Therapy: Provide oxygen and special gas therapy using nasal cannulas, oxygen masks, high-flow nasal cannulas, oxygen tanks, blenders, analyzers, and administer subambient oxygen and Heliox therapy to support pediatric patients with respiratory distress.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean equipment and interface with attending, fellow, APP, PA, NP, and other disciplines to ensure seamless care coordination.
