REPORTS TO: Monitor/Security Supervisor and Program Manager
FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
BENEFITS: Alpha Project offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 14 paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, and full employer coverage for medical, dental, vision premiums, and group life insurance.
PAY RANGE: $19- $22 per hour, based on experience
SHIFT: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM), may include weekends
Position SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Monitor/Security Supervisor and Program Manager, the Residential Monitor and Security will ensure a secure environment and oversee activities in the adjacent areas. This role involves assisting with daily operations and ensuring the safety and comfort of clients, staff, volunteers, and visitors. The Residential Monitor and Security will collaborate with residents, staff, service providers, and guests to de-escalate conflicts and enhance the Emergency/Bridge Shelter experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesResidential Oversight- Evaluate participant needs during admission and discharge from the program.
- Assist residents with various requests, including accessing supplies, clothing, and food.
- Support family stabilization efforts.
- Document and report incidents and daily activities as directed.
- Assist clients with special requirements as necessary.
- Collaborate with external partner organizations.
- Make suitable referrals to available resources and services.
- Ensure all participants and visitors are properly checked in and out of the facility.
- Maintain a daily log during each shift.
- Provide security and safety both onsite and in surrounding communities.
- Work in partnership with law enforcement and outreach teams.
- Document and report incidents and daily activities as required.
- Conduct regular fire and safety inspections.
- Fulfill mandated reporting obligations.
- Maintain a secure and safe environment for all participants.
- Professionally and efficiently resolve conflicts among participants.
- Oversee janitorial and laundry services.
- Assist in meal service and food pantry operations.
- Support family and youth enrichment activities.
- Communicate and adhere to program and shelter policies, modeling professional rapport with all staff, clients, and partners in line with the Operations Manual.
- Ensure confidentiality for all participants.
- Engage and work cooperatively with participants, service providers, and staff members.

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Frequent telephone communication for extended durations.

- Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the Company's Employee Handbook. Candidates will also contribute to a positive work environment by communicating effectively and collaborating with all constituent groups, co-workers, and management.
Education & Experience- High School diploma or GED and a minimum of one (1) year of lived experience combined with one (1) year of practical job experience preferred.
- One (1) year of experience working with vulnerable populations is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid, and NARCAN certification preferred.
- Effective communication skills, both in person and over the phone, are required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
- Understanding of confidentiality protocols and protection of personal information is required.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively and in a timely manner is required.
- Ability to problem-solve and maintain composure in high-pressure situations is required.
- Act as a liaison with partner agencies.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Experience with principles of homeless housing interventions, social services, case management, eviction prevention, shelter diversion, and crisis intervention.
- Familiarity with practices such as Housing First, Trauma-Informed Care, Conflict Resolution, Motivational Interviewing, Low Barrier Operations, and Prevention and Diversion is preferred.
- Bilingual speakers of any language are preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is preferred.
- Working knowledge of standard office equipment.
