Job Summary:
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins University is seeking a highly skilled Orthopaedic Technologist to join our team. As an Orthopaedic Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the clinical activities of our physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply, modify, and remove upper and lower extremity casts, and work with traction.
- Order Orthopedic equipment and supplies.
- Take necessary measurements (i.e., grip strength, leg lengths).
- Remove sutures, staples, Steinman pins, and K-wires.
- Change dressing and care for wounds.
- Assist with aspirations and prepare injections.
- Record patient's blood pressure, pulse, and weight.
- Phone and chart medication ordered by the physician.
- Assist Orthopedic Surgeon in reduction of fractures.
- Review standard admitting and pre-op instructions for patients having surgery.
- Assist in making follow-up appointments and consultation appointments with other specialists for patients.
- Measure and fit patients for braces and other Orthopedic devices.
- Instruct patient in pre and post-operative care.
- Instruct patient in proper care of cast and splints.
- Clean and stock patient exam and treatment rooms.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- One year experience as an Orthopaedic Technician.
- Certification from the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists as a Certified Orthopaedic Technologist, or registration from the American Society of Orthopaedic Professionals as a Registered Orthopaedic Technologist, or other related Orthopaedic Technologist certification/registration.
Working Conditions:
This position will be providing coverage to clinics located in Lutherville and Odenton regularly. This position may be required to travel to other outpatient locations as well as assist with evening clinics.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $35.35 HRLY ($57,750 targeted; Commensurate with experience). The position is non-exempt and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
