Position Overview:

Broadcom's Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is in search of a skilled and enthusiastic Software Engineer who is passionate about developing high-quality applications utilizing agile methodologies to join our Mainframe Security and Compliance team.

In this capacity, you will play a crucial role within the development team, concentrating on the creation, testing, and support of advanced Mainframe Security solutions utilized by numerous leading global enterprises.


Key Responsibilities:
The R&D Software Engineer will engage in intricate code modifications, testing, and debugging activities, while also providing comprehensive analysis related to software design and development.

The individual in this position is expected to technically guide a small team, offering advice, mentorship, and coaching to junior developers, and collaborating with stakeholders such as Product Owners and Solution Architects.

Typical Weekly Activities:
  • Leverage your previous experience to shape the product roadmap;
  • Explore new technologies that enhance our software;
  • Embrace a test-first development approach, where feasible, developing tests prior to coding;
  • Engage in design and code reviews with fellow engineers;
  • Participate in test plan evaluations;
  • Mentor junior team members;
  • Conduct unit/module testing of software;
  • Actively support and contribute to end-of-iteration demonstrations;
  • Be responsible for assigned integration, testing, and deployment tasks;
  • Promote continuous improvement within the team and yourself;
  • Contribute to team retrospectives and assist in identifying and resolving impediments;
  • Take ownership of challenges and consistently strive to enhance problem-solving skills;
  • Create and maintain documentation detailing program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.

Qualifications:
Ultimately, we are seeking talent and enthusiasm.

However, experience in one or more of the following areas could make you an excellent addition to our team:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in testing modern large-scale software and complex test configurations;
  • Proficient in operating as a developer within the IBM mainframe environment;
  • Experience with debugging tools such as XDC and IPCS;
  • Background in software development using IBM Assembler/Metal C on the mainframe (zOS or zVSE) platform;
  • Experience implementing JCL to execute batch processes in zOS or zVSE;
  • Additional experience in one or more of the following programming languages: IBM C, ISPF CLIST, REXX, RESTful APIs, and Object-Oriented programming.

Business Travel and Physical Demands:
No (or minimal) business travel is anticipated for this role.
Office environment. No special physical demands required.

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in a software-related field.

Work Experience:
Typically, 8 years of experience in software development or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits:

The annual base salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
