Job Title: Filmmaking Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled Filmmaking Associate to join our team at the University of Colorado. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a project that combines anthropology, filmmaking, and public humanities.

About the Project

The Filmmaking Associate will support the objectives of the Henry Luce Foundation funded project, "Living Together: Finding Democratic Diversity and Religious Coexistence in Colorado Springs and the Mountain West." The project aims to produce an ethnographic documentary film on the intersections of religion, race, and democracy in the region.

Responsibilities
  • Support the production of an ethnographic documentary film on the intersections of religion, race, and democracy in the region.
  • Collaborate with the postdoctoral associate in the Center for Religious Diversity and Public Life to produce and disseminate original media content to promote the documentary film and the center's activities.
  • Develop and disseminate media materials for center activities, including online advertisements and YouTube shorts.
  • Network with Colorado Springs residents to document compelling stories about the city's unique demographics and intersectional identities.
Requirements
  • PhD in Anthropology or related humanities or social science field or MFA/MA in filmmaking or related field.
  • One or more years of experience in visual anthropology/documentary film production and editing.
  • Must possess their own equipment for filming and production.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidate should demonstrate evidence of ability to engage students and community populations from diverse backgrounds.
  • 5+ years experience in documentary film production and editing.
  • Terminal degree in Anthropology or related humanities/social science field or film.
