Job Opportunity for Senior Network Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team in supporting a Defense Program. This is a fully onsite position in Hampton, VA, where you will be part of a leadership team responsible for a legacy program that supports major Operations Centers in CONUS, Alaska, and Hawaii, as well as over 200 remote radar and radio sites.

The Network Engineer will be responsible for providing Operations and Maintenance services 7/24/365 to ensure uninterrupted mission availability. System engineering changes will be implemented to modernize the communications system as needed for technical refresh and to meet new mission requirements. Lifecycle Management and Planning services will be provided for the communications system to ensure system sustainability.

Candidate must have an active secret clearance.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as a key member of the project delivery team along with project managers, project analysts, and other senior engineers.
  • Analyze customer requirements and solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
  • Provide expert knowledge for maintenance and upgrade of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and telecom equipment.
  • Ensure network integrity and connectivity while maintaining system backup and recovery capability.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and plan the method of approach and organize means to achieve solution of complex technical problems.
  • Develop advanced engineering ideas and guide their development into a final product.
  • Develop advanced solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Perform advanced network/systems design, development, and integration from the start of a project life cycle to the end.
  • Provide and apply advanced engineering to complex infrastructures, including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining network devices, telecom equipment, radio equipment, operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Provide and apply advanced engineering skills to complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Perform continual maintenance and provide advanced solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of rapidly changing technology and work with management to evolve current processes.
  • Invent innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
  • Create plans and configure systems for data communication networks.
  • Design and build hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.
  • Evaluate new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Qualifications:
  • Experience leading and managing task order type engineering project work.
  • Experience working on project teams and overseeing and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • History of working in a Cisco environment.
  • Master's Degree and 10+ years of experience or 16 years in lieu of degree.
  • Must meet the certification requirement of DoD Directive and M.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher.
Compensation:

Salary Range: $130,000 to $135,000
