We are seeking a highly skilled Auditory Assessment Professional to join our team at Green Hills AEA. As an Educational Audiologist, you will play a critical role in providing hearing conservation services and assessing the needs of children with hearing loss.
Key Responsibilities- Provide hearing conservation services related to prevention, identification, and assessment of hearing loss.
- Participate as a multidisciplinary team member assessing the needs of children with hearing loss.
- Assist the Green Hills AEA Administration in matters that require priority attention and bring to their attention issues of concern regarding special education services and programs to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Coordinate and/or cooperate with Agency audiometrists to provide hearing screenings for students as outlined by Agency policy.
- Perform air conduction thresholds and tympanometry on students failing hearing screening.
- Make appropriate medical referrals as per Agency policy.
- Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials for AEA and LEAs on request.
- Provide follow-up hearing evaluations on students referred to a physician and/or other students known to have depressed hearing acuity.
- Provide or make available written reports according to AEA policies.
- Coordinate and/or cooperate with audiometrists to prepare and/or maintain or make available file records, if properly requested, for each student.
- Assist in determining those students in need of amplification: hearing aids, auditory trainers, classroom amplification systems for identified students.
- Perform and/or report evaluations at least annually on those students using amplification, including but not limited to aided pure-tone thresholds and electro-acoustic evaluation.
- Make ear mold impressions when necessary to obtain earmolds for auditory trainers.
- Perform troubleshooting of amplification systems for students with hearing impairment when necessary.
- Participate in problem-solving assessments by evaluating hearing-impaired students' classroom performance via the S.I.F.T.E.R protocol.
- Participate in the Newborn Audiology Program in conjunction with local hospitals as determined by AEA policies.
- Provide recommendations and/or services to classroom teachers and other necessary personnel, including but not limited to preferential seating.
- Ability to travel to districts and schools within the AEA.
