Position Overview

The Junior Vulnerability Assessment Analyst will play a vital role in supporting the Enterprise Information System Vulnerability Management (ISVM) compliance validation. This position involves executing vulnerability scans and conducting thorough assessments of IT systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in researching current vulnerabilities and support Incident Response and Security Operations Center (SOC) functions related to vulnerabilities.
  • Author security advisories based on findings from vulnerability assessments.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans against various platforms including web applications, databases, operating systems, Wi-Fi, and network devices using industry-standard tools.
  • Customize and maintain scanning policies, schedules, inventories, zones, and repositories on scanning tools.
  • Provide both formal and ad-hoc reports detailing security vulnerabilities.
  • Review scan results to ensure the accuracy of findings.
  • Participate in the vulnerability assessment component of audits and security authorization activities.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in areas such as penetration testing, security assessments, or vulnerability management.
Skills and Expertise

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in conducting assessments and vulnerability scans using DHS CDM vulnerability scanning tool suites.
  • Experience with tools such as Tenable Security Center, AppDetective, WebInspect, and Burp Suite.
  • Ability to script in languages such as Python, Bash, Visual Basic, or PowerShell.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to solve problems effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Clearance Requirement

Applicants must hold an active Secret Clearance. Additionally, all personnel supporting the organization must have a current background investigation or obtain a favorable background investigation prior to joining.
