Job Title: Medical Office Nurse RN

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Office Nurse RN to join our team at MyMichigan Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, coordinating care with other providers, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage all calls, schedule daily urgent/emergent add-ons, receive and relay test results, process medication refills, support, direct, and refer patients for consults and/or testing and insurance pre-certification and documentation.
  • Provide complete patient assessment within your scope of licensure, greet patients and/or family, perform routine pre-examination procedures, including vital signs, assessing and recording objective and subjective data concerning presenting condition, and update and maintain an accurate patient record.
  • Coordinate the care team with the care indicated by the provider, and work with the patient and families with the disease process and/or care management.
  • Assist provider with examinations and procedures, prepare and clean the patient area, set up equipment, clean and facilitate room set up after a procedure, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments.

Requirements:

  • BLS: Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire or transfer.
  • RN: Registered Nurse.
  • Associate's degree is required; BSN in nursing is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the organizations Infor, Electronic Medical Records, and Practice Management programs.
  • PC software knowledge, including Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of medical office policies, practices, and procedures, normally acquired through three to five years working in the healthcare system or similar setting.

Physical/Mental Requirements and Typical Working Conditions:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief, and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Some exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance, and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required, including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs., and/or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
