Lead Sterile Processing Specialist

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department, which includes decontamination, instrument processing, sterilization, and distribution. The incumbent monitors cost, quality, and service issues and makes recommendations for improvement. Maintains current registry/certification in Sterile Processing. Must be able to perform job duties of Registered Sterile Processing Technician.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the establishment of caregiver work schedules and changes, departmental call and holiday schedules, and payroll.
  • Responsible for maintaining the record keeping for departmental activities, including instrument repairs, quality improvement, departmental staffing, and other relevant data.
  • Generates and maintains departmental reports and provides information for the SPD Support Manager Director.
  • Acts as a resource person for departmental issues, including troubleshooting, instrumentation questions, interdepartmental standards clarification/interpretation, customer complaints/concerns, and other related matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • All required education is a minimum requirement. Higher levels of education are acceptable. A diploma is required.
  • CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician is required.
  • Two years of experience in Sterile Processing are required. Experience as a Specialty Technician or in Leadership is preferred.
