Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Foundations for Living. This part-time position requires a commitment to working every Saturday and Sunday, with a 24-hour workweek.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality patient care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients with psychiatric or chemical dependency-related treatment needs.
  • Assist patients who are prone to falls, participate in restraint and seclusion procedures, and administer medications as prescribed by physicians.
  • Conduct 15-minute rounds, monitor vital signs, and perform EKGs as needed.
  • Provide oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Mental Health Technicians (MHTs), complete nursing assessments, and update treatment care plans.
  • Participate in treatment planning, including identifying patient problems, needs, and strengths, and suggesting modifications to treatment plans based on observations.
  • Implement patients' treatment plans by monitoring progress, communicating with the treatment team, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Accompany patients as assigned, help maintain the therapeutic milieu, and collect and analyze patient data.
  • Develop comprehensive care plans to achieve expected outcomes and effectively manage psychiatric crisis situations.
  • Assess and manage patient pain, educate patients about pain and treatment, and maintain a desirable attendance and punctuality record.
  • Participate in activities that enhance professional growth and development, demonstrate conduct in line with the organization's ethical standards, and comply with facility safety, infection control, and security programs.
Requirements
  • ADN or BSN in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current South Carolina RN license.
  • Sound leadership skills and ability to organize activities and schedules for patients.
  • Consistently high-quality clinical and interpersonal skills, with a record of being an exemplary role model.
  • Basic knowledge of treatment procedures, interventions, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, flexibility in schedule and work assignment, and willingness to maintain confidentiality.
Work Environment

The work environment may involve exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent or aggressive behavior, potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids, and hazardous waste. The ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations is essential.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this job require a full range of mobility, ability to reach overhead, and work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods. The ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment is also required.
