We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Care Technician to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Perform basic patient care activities, including vital sign monitoring, blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, and eating.
- Report any abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized patient environment.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently, even in high-pressure situations.
- Act as a liaison between patient care units and other departments to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering phone calls, intercoms, and call lights in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist with managing unit workflow, including validating daily admission, discharge, and census lists, as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation, or Certified Nursing Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician.
- CPR – Basic Life Support certification.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing/pulling 50 pounds.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course.
