Position Overview:

The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is responsible for designing and executing individualized treatment plans aimed at promoting, maintaining, and enhancing the leisure activities of patients recovering from significant physical, emotional, or substance-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a secure and supportive environment by delivering care in alignment with the multidisciplinary treatment team and tailored treatment plans to address patient needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations, both subjective and objective, of patients based on their diagnoses, medical history, and physician referrals.
  • Define achievable rehabilitation goals following thorough assessments of specific patient challenges.
  • Communicate treatment recommendations derived from recreational assessments to the treatment team and propose intervention strategies to facilitate effective treatment planning.
  • Oversee the assessment and ongoing evaluation of patients' physical and emotional requirements for recreational therapy based on historical data and evaluation outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy from an accredited institution (degree verification required).
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Current licensure in Therapeutic Recreation in the State of Utah.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • National Certification in Therapeutic Recreation.
  • Annual competency training in MANDT.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform activities such as climbing, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, and standing.
