Job Title: Laborer/Refuse Collector

The City of Little Rock is seeking a skilled Laborer/Refuse Collector to join our team. As a Laborer/Refuse Collector, you will be responsible for performing various general or manual labor duties, including cleaning restrooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces, as well as collecting and disposing of refuse.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning restrooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces
  • Collecting and disposing of refuse
  • Operating hand and power tools to cut grass and brush from ditches and street right-of-way
  • Spreading asphalt binder on areas being repaired
  • Shoveling asphalt from trucks into areas being repaired and leveling areas with a rake
  • Operating power tools to compress asphalt into repaired areas
  • Shoveling gravel and other fill or surfacing materials from trucks to areas being repaired
  • Operating cement mixer or hand tools to mix concrete
  • Pouring and finishing concrete
  • Operating hand tools to build forms for pouring concrete
  • Lifting and carrying riprap or other materials used to support walls of ditches
  • Loading sacks of salt onto trucks and emptying salt into salt spreader for application to ice or snow-covered streets
  • Operating jackhammer and compressor to loosen materials for removal from areas being repaired
Requirements:
  • One (1) year of experience in general or manual labor
  • Ability to work regular and irregular work shifts, weekends, and holidays, and to be recalled to work for emergency and non-emergency reasons
  • Current valid Arkansas Driver's License
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
