Job Summary

WM is seeking a highly skilled Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our fleet of vehicles and equipment. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet, while also meeting our corporate objectives.

This is a second shift position, working from 2pm-12am, and will involve supervising a team of six full-time mechanics and 75 pieces of equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the maintenance and upkeep of our fleet of vehicles and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Review capital equipment requisitions to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Supervise effective utilization of vehicle assets.
  • Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
  • Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
  • Ensure vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
  • Comply with and ensure adherence to WM's Mission to Zero standards and regulations.
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Administer personnel needs of the department, including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees, and evaluating employee performance.
  • Provide input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Conduct and/or attend periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Provide training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
  • Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Two (2) or three (3) year College Diploma in a related field of study, or in lieu of diploma, High School Diploma or GED or High School Equivalency and two (2) years of work experience.
  • Two (2) years of previous work experience (in addition to education requirement).
  • Valid driver's license required.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to use motor coordination with finger dexterity, and to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds. The normal setting for this job is an office setting.
