Job Title: Youth Council Leader

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to serve as a Youth Council Leader for the City of Worcester. This is a part-time, temporary position that will play a key role in amplifying the voices of youth in our community.

Job Summary:

The Youth Council Leader will work closely with the Division of Youth Opportunities (DYO) staff to implement Youth Council programming. This includes facilitating meetings, workshops, and trainings for youth, as well as participating in data gathering aspects such as creating surveys and outreach. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in leadership roles and a strong passion for justice and creating positive social change in our community.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in weekly meetings with DYO staff to discuss program implementation and progress.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and trainings for youth on topics such as leadership development, community engagement, and social justice.
  • Participate in data gathering aspects such as creating surveys and outreach to engage with youth and community members.
  • Identify youth issues within youth environments or gaps in youth services and develop proposals for the City Manager or City Council to make positive changes for youth.
  • Work on projects individually as well as part of the larger group to achieve program goals.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in leadership roles at work, school, extracurricular activities, sports, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and networking skills with youth, colleagues, and community members.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through on commitments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of experience facilitating and/or organizing youth activities and programming.
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities.
  • Special interest in youth justice.
Salary and Benefits:
