Job Title: Fabrication Tech 2 - Tumbling/Black Oxide

Check-Mate Manufacturing LLC, a subsidiary of Check-Mate Industries, is seeking a skilled Fabrication Tech 2 to join our team in Thomasville, GA. As a leading manufacturer of high-precision tools and progressive dies, stampings, and assemblies, we offer a dynamic work environment with opportunities for growth and development.

Job Summary:

The Fabrication Tech 2 will be responsible for ensuring the metal tubes used in the assembly of firearm magazines are properly coated with black oxide, a mild corrosion-resistant coating. This position requires strong problem-solving and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate black oxide and tumbling equipment to coat metal tubes
  • Verify liquid levels in plating tanks and ensure proper water valve operation
  • Move racks between tanks and clean them between individual plating processes
  • Operate overhead equipment to move parts between tanks
  • Monitor and maintain established times for parts in each tank
  • Keep work area clean and floors washed
  • Load plating part racks based on schedule
  • Ensure safe mounting of racks before moving them to plating tanks
  • Unload plated parts racks and inspect for quality
  • Inform dip plating operator of poor plating issues
  • Run the plating dip process and make adjustments as needed
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • 6 months - 3 years of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Basic problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and utilize Micrometers, Calibers, Drop Gage, and Dial Indicators
  • Able to read and follow instructions outlined in production documents
  • Able to lift 35 pounds
  • Knowledge of Lean principles, Kaizan, and 6 S
