Guardianship Supervisor I

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services (DADS) has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to join our team as a Guardianship Supervisor in the Guardianship Services Program.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising a unit of Guardianship Specialists and administrative support staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of guardianship services to eligible individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage unit operations to achieve program objectives for service delivery, interpreting policies, procedures, rules, regulations, standards, and state and federal laws relevant to guardianship.
• Plan and assign the work of others, managing caseloads and conducting unit meetings, responsible for all personnel and performance-related tasks, including interviewing and selecting staff, providing opportunities for continual staff development, and supervising staff through individual and group conferences, mentoring, training, and conducting regular performance evaluations.
• Monitor activities of staff through regular case reviews, quality assurance reviews, routine financial reviews of accounting records, and personal observation of staff, ensuring quality and consistent application of program policy, and swiftly conduct thorough investigations of internal and/or external complaints in consultation with State Office management.
• Consult with internal and external stakeholders, including employees within other state agencies, consumers, judges, attorneys, representatives from businesses and organizations, contractors, stakeholders, and the general public according to policy, and monitor unit budgets and directly oversee the use of Guardianship Emergency Client Services funds, Travel Funds, administrative expenses, and other expenditures, preparing and sending monthly expenditure reports to State Office.
Requirements:
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to Guardianship services in the State of Texas, laws, rules, regulations, and policies surrounding Health and Human Services within the State of Texas, and skill in working directly with, and extensive knowledge of community services and resources for, the aged and/or disabled population.
• Ability to directly supervise professional, technical, and/or administrative support staff, conduct thorough and timely assessments, investigations, and administrative reviews, perform ongoing unit quality assurance and case reviews, testify in legal guardianship hearings of the court, communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex information to a multitude of internal and external stakeholders of various positions in hierarchy, and utilize a desktop/laptop computer, database systems, and all standard office equipment, as well as any Microsoft Office programs associated with a professional work environment.
