Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist in the Respiratory Care Services department at WakeMed is responsible for administering respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients in the emergency department. This includes administering oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, advanced airway management, arterial puncture and analysis, ECGs, and mechanical ventilation.

Responsibilities

The Respiratory Therapist will plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of therapy with communication to the physician and healthcare team. The therapist will also understand the needs of the organization and support the mission, vision, and values in the management of patient care.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Respiratory Therapist will need to have:

  • 1 year of clinical experience in respiratory therapy and emergency/trauma care
  • Associate's degree in respiratory therapy
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
  • NC Respiratory Care Practitioner certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 30 days of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 30 days of hire

Work Schedule

The Respiratory Therapist will work a 7pm-7am shift, with weekend and call requirements as needed.
