The Nurse Substitute position is responsible for providing clerical and clinical support in addressing the health needs of students. This role requires a RN or LPN certification and involves assisting Health Services, students, and other school personnel in providing specialized treatments, monitoring medical treatments, and testing at school sites.

• Assist Health Services, students, and other school personnel in providing specialized treatments, monitoring medical treatments, and testing at school sites.
• Escort and aid students on buses as needed, and may be assigned to assist specific students for the day.
• Consult with the District Nurse regarding emergency situations, neglect/abuse, assessment needs, infectious/contagious diseases, and other health-related concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and student records at all times.
• Perform record-keeping and clerical functions, including scheduling, copying, faxing, and preparing written materials.
• Respond to inquiries from students, staff, and parents regarding health-related matters.
• Supervise students referred for illness and perform other duties as assigned.

The Nurse Substitute position requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, as well as significant fine finger dexterity. The job involves 50% sitting, 10% walking, and 40% standing, and is performed under minimal temperature variations, some hazardous conditions, and in a clean atmosphere.
