Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team at the Nathan S. Kline Institute. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the field of mitovesicles and their role in maintaining mitochondrial function in neurons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Isolate and characterize mitovesicles from brain tissue using various techniques, including Western blotting, fluorescent activated sorting, and immunolabeling for confocal microscopy and electron microscopy.
  • Collaborate with laboratory members to conduct proteomic studies of extracellular vesicles and investigate their impact on long-term potentiation (LTP).
  • Develop and maintain primary neuronal and astrocytic cultures for experimentation.
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator and other laboratory members to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and write manuscripts for publication.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as neuroscience, biochemistry, or molecular biology.
  • Strong research background and a record of published peer-reviewed articles in international journals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, organizational abilities, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in molecular, biochemical, and cell culture techniques, as well as animal handling.
  • Experience with extracellular vesicle isolation and characterization.
