About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineer III to join our team at HNTB. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for supporting railroad bridge design assignments and working on high-profile Connecticut bridge projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and modify design calculations, technical reports, and engineering plans for assigned projects.
  • Work closely with project managers to perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery.
  • Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Leverage technical knowledge, experience, and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs.
  • Mentor, train, and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Independent creation of structural computations for design and analysis, and quantity takeoffs, for bridges and other transportation structures.
  • Perform structural modeling for highway and railroad bridges and other transportation structures.
  • Responsible for development of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for structural work on transportation infrastructure projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Specifications and/or AREMA.
