Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Baker to join our team. As an Assistant Baker, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Baker in the production of diversified menu items, including donuts, breads, and laminated doughs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Baker in the production of menu items, including donuts, breads, and laminated doughs.
  • Ensure compliance with all recipes to provide consistent menu items.
  • Clean and maintain work area throughout shift.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained and in proper working order.
  • Prepare adequate quantities for business volume.
  • Test product for quality standards.
  • Maintain professionalism and be friendly and approachable towards guests and staff.
  • Report safety hazards to manager on duty.
  • Report all employee accidents to manager on duty.
  • Maintain sense of urgency in kitchen.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years experience in a bakery or related field.
  • Basic baking knowledge, including knife use, scaling, mixing methods, bread shaping, and following recipes.
  • Math skills and ability to apply basic arithmetic to common food service applications.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passionate about culinary arts.

Working Conditions:

Job functions are performed primarily in a clean, ventilated, well-lighted temperature-controlled environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions, cold, and hot. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds, occasionally more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Benefits and Pay:

This position is part-time, with the potential to eventually become a full-time position. Once full-time, employees will be offered insurance, including medical, dental, vision, and a free life insurance policy. This position starts at $18-$20/hour, based on experience.
