The Senior Accounting Specialist will oversee and manage the General Ledger accounts and the organization’s financial transactions, which entails comprehensive analytical tasks and meticulous examination of financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly analyses of general accounts (Balance Sheet and P&L) in alignment with annual audit standards, including comparisons to projected and historical results.
  • Execute and evaluate general account reconciliations, covering bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
  • Prepare and record journal entries while maintaining comprehensive files and reconciling accounts.
  • Review expense coding in the general ledger, ensuring compliance with sales/use tax regulations and budgeting requirements.
  • Manage the monthly processing of expense allocations, accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, and fixed asset depreciation, including necessary adjusting and reclassification journal entries.
  • Prepare and assess monthly budget versus actual variance reports.
  • Assist in generating financial reports, including financial statements, budget performance analyses, and partner packages.
  • Support the maintenance of Fixed Asset records and associated depreciation schedules using the FAS Software System, ensuring accurate recording of new acquisitions and disposals.
  • Safeguard the integrity of the organization by maintaining confidentiality of firm and client information.
  • Train to provide backup support for various functions within the Accounting Department.
  • Engage in ad hoc analyses and projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2 to 3 years of accounting experience is essential, preferably within a law firm environment.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (Elite/SAP is advantageous).
  • Proficient in advanced Excel functionalities.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, especially Excel).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and proficient record-keeping.
  • A collaborative team player who can work effectively with various teams.
  • High level of interpersonal skills, demonstrating poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying issues clearly to all management levels.
