Job Overview

Position: Laboratory Quality Assurance Technician

Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

The Laboratory Quality Assurance Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the Lab Manager by conducting quality assessments of products in line with established industry standards and internal protocols. The technician is responsible for testing samples received from various transportation methods, ensuring that all products meet the necessary quality requirements before being released.

Compensation: $17-$18.50/hr, depending on experience

Work Schedule: 1st Shift 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Essential Qualifications:

  • Fundamental math and algebra skills
  • Ability to perform calculations and work with percentages
  • Proficient in reading and understanding procedures in English
  • Capability to interpret Certificate of Analysis (COA) data
  • Familiarity with computer and phone usage for internal and customer communications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline such as chemistry or biology
  • OR
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory tests following industry standards and internal guidelines
  • Authorize documentation for the release of incoming and outgoing products
  • Maintain both physical and electronic laboratory records, ensuring clarity in documentation
  • Perform regular equipment verifications and document results accurately
  • Test boiler water and report findings to the Maintenance department
  • Foster positive customer relations through timely communication
  • Exhibit professionalism in interactions with colleagues, customers, and carriers
  • Organize the sample room, ensuring proper labeling and storage of samples
  • Prepare blend sheets based on customer formulas
  • Create and update COAs using customer templates and testing data
  • Assist the Lab Manager in monitoring chemical inventory levels
  • Engage in training sessions and respond to inquiries from management and auditors
  • Adhere to personal hygiene and food safety protocols
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
