Position Title: Canvass Manager

Reporting Structure: Regional Project/Office Director

Compensation: The salary range for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Job Classification: Full-time, exempt
Schedule: Full-time (40 or more hours per week, with potential for extended hours during peak periods)

Position Summary

The Canvass Manager will play a crucial role in the recruitment, training, and oversight of Team Leads and Paid Canvassers within a regional outreach initiative. This position requires close collaboration with Regional Organizing Directors, Project Directors, and the Operations team to achieve ambitious outreach goals.

Canvass Managers will operate from regional offices and engage directly with Team Leads and Paid Canvassers in the field. Ideal candidates will be proactive problem-solvers capable of managing a diverse team with varied backgrounds. Comprehensive training will be provided for new hires, and we encourage individuals with relevant skills to consider this opportunity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate training and management of canvassers in the field, including pre-shift briefings and post-shift evaluations.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Organizer and Project Director to enhance the training program.
  • Oversee daily operations of up to 5 Team Leads and 30 Paid Canvassers.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years of management experience, preferably in outreach or community engagement roles.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to cultivate a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Willingness to work a demanding schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Passion for driving progressive change within the community.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's insurance.
  • Candidates must possess a mobile phone and laptop computer.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with voter outreach tools and platforms.
  • Previous experience in managing volunteers or canvassing teams.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and interact with canvassers throughout the workday.
  • Effective communication with colleagues and partners in person, via phone, and through written correspondence is essential.
  • Travel may be necessary for training and meetings.
  • Vision and hearing capabilities are required for this role.
