Clinical Laboratory Scientist II

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is a key member of the Microbiology team, responsible for performing complex bacteriological, parasitological, and serological procedures. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and complicated laboratory procedures in the primary section to which assigned, adhering to age-specific standards and job-related policies and procedures.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment, making minor repairs as necessary or notifying Bio-med as needed.
- Assure that the laboratory's quality control program is properly followed, and participate in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new or updated testing procedures and protocols.
- Calculate, enter, and/or verify results of laboratory procedures, and utilize the Laboratory Information System to document and track results.
- Provide notification and documentation of critical laboratory values obtained, and process patient specimens, including collection, handling, and distribution.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR.
- At least one year of clinical laboratory experience in the Microbiology department, including inoculating specimens for routine, fungus, and acid-fast cultures, performing and interpreting stain reactions, and processing acid-fast specimens and serological testing of specimens.
- Must possess Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS, and maintain and keep current certification with an expiration date.
