We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. As an ICU RN at Norman Regional Health System, you will have the opportunity to work with critically ill patients experiencing severe cardiac and respiratory conditions. Your role will involve rapid assessment, management of life-support systems, and collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The ICU at Norman Regional Hospital provides care for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions. Our team works in collaboration with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award-winning advanced stroke care. We maintain a fast pace to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of cardiac disease. Common cardiac procedures/diagnosis seen in ICU include post open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction.

As an ICU RN, you will be required to rapidly assess a patient's condition and intervene with immediate attention as needed. Daily care and responsibilities may include managing various life-support systems, including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications. You should show respect, empathy, and exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. Additionally, you should understand and employ patient safety and harm prevention tools.

We offer comprehensive and inclusive training and support for new graduate RNs through our 12-week orientation program with a designated preceptor. Responsibilities of the ICU RN include:
* Assessment/reassessment: Systematically assessing / reassessing the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family, and other healthcare providers as appropriate
* Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes: Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family, and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
* Implementation and Coordination of Care: Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgment guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations, and policy
* Evaluation: Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence-based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts, and reach sound conclusions.

To be successful in this role, you should possess a Diploma or Associate's degree (ADN) in Nursing, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Previous experience in the healthcare field is also beneficial. You must hold a Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license or active Multistate RN license, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining during orientation prior to providing patient care. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training or retraining is required within 6 months of hire. Furthermore, you will need to obtain and maintain critical care competencies as designated by The Joint Commission and/or Nurse Manager. New grads will be required to complete Vizient/AACN Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program to ensure the best outcome for them during their transition period from school to becoming a professional nurse.

Our competitive salary range is $27.84-$45.46/hr based on previous work experience, with opportunities for career ladder advancement after one year of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, retirement plans, free parking, and opportunities for advancement.
