Role Objective:
The individual will carry out various maintenance tasks at water production and related facilities. This includes engaging in electrical installation projects and maintaining existing electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and control systems. The role requires complex circuit diagnosis and troubleshooting, collaborating with other departments as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret project plans and specifications.
- Install circuits for power and lighting up to 480 volts.
- Independently or collaboratively maintain high voltage circuits.
- Install electrical and electronic systems according to specifications.
- Prepare and update technical drawings.
- Diagnose issues and lay out work for repairs.
- Perform necessary repairs on electrical circuits and equipment.
- Conduct tests for temperature, vibration, noise, current, voltage, insulation, and calibration.
- Adjust and repair motors, controllers, telemetry, PLCs, metering, and water treatment equipment.
- Handle various materials and equipment, including test equipment and tools.
- Document maintenance history using the MMS System.
- Collaborate with operations personnel, contractors, or engineering as required.
- Submit requisitions for tools and materials; ensure proper inventory documentation.
- Document vehicle and equipment usage.
- Develop or modify Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs).
- Assist in training personnel as assigned.
- Troubleshoot SCADA system issues at assigned facilities.
- Perform routine checks on SCADA system alarms.
Work Environment:
- Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic chemicals.
- Work near moving mechanical parts and in high places; exposure to extreme weather conditions.
- Potential risk of electrical shock and vibration.
- High noise levels in the plant.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a technical degree (24 credit hours) in electronics or electricity from an accredited institution.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Willingness to pursue additional education to enhance skills.
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code.
- Understanding of medium and low voltage circuits.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers.
- Awareness of company safety and environmental procedures.
- Proficient in using personal computers and relevant software.
- Ability to participate in the Company's Respiratory Protection Program.
- Knowledge of applicable OSHA standards.
- Responsible use and care of company-provided hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
- Understanding of SCADA system operations.
- Ability to diagnose control failures related to power or communications.
- Dependability and leadership skills when working independently.
- Ability to read and interpret operational and maintenance manuals.
- Experience with RCM maintenance programs.
Physical Requirements:
- Availability for emergency response outside normal working hours.
- Frequent sitting, talking, and hearing.
- Occasional standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks.
- Close vision, distance vision, color perception, and depth perception are necessary for reading drawings and troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift up to fifty pounds routinely and 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.
