About the Job
Whole Foods Market is seeking a skilled Produce Department Supervisor to lead our team and drive exceptional customer experiences. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, supervise team members, and ensure seamless execution of produce-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and delegate tasks to produce team members to ensure efficient workflow and effective use of resources.
- Collaborate with the produce trainer to develop and implement training programs that foster high-performance teams and minimize turnover.
- Assist in training new team members using learning checklists and materials, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and development.
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated environment, adhering to company standards and regulations.
- Open and close the department according to established procedures, ensuring seamless transitions and minimizing disruptions.
- Provide timely breaks for team members, promoting work-life balance and productivity.
- Communicate team concerns to the team leader and associate team leader, addressing issues promptly and effectively.
- Foster a positive work environment by setting high standards of retail execution and encouraging outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
- Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing team members to satisfy and delight customers while responding promptly to their inquiries.
- Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members to sustain high-performance teams and minimize turnover.
- Conduct timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback for growth and improvement.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of produce team procedures and policies, applying them consistently to drive results.
- Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills, prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities effectively.
- Showcase excellent interpersonal, motivational, team-building, and customer relationship skills, fostering a positive work environment and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development within the team.
- Possess product knowledge and stay up-to-date on regulatory and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and minimizing risks.
- Proficient in mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Demonstrate decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
- Proficient in email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications, utilizing technology to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, meeting physical demands and ensuring team members' safety.
- In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours, maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling, performing tasks efficiently and safely.
- Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching, maintaining flexibility and mobility.
- Exposed to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
- Exposed to temperatures up to 90°F, adapting to changing conditions and ensuring team members' comfort.
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment, maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, adapting to business demands and requirements.
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated salary for this role is $23.85 - $36.22 per hour, commensurate with experience.
