As a Surgical Instrument Processing Supervisor, you will oversee the meticulous decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments. Your role involves operating essential processing equipment to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
Expertise in instrument decontamination and assembly is crucial, as you will be responsible for selecting the appropriate sterilization methods based on the specific devices being processed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Decontaminate surgical instruments following the manufacturer's guidelines or as directed by the department supervisor or manager.
2. Operate decontamination equipment efficiently.
3. Conduct thorough inspections of instruments post-decontamination to confirm that all items are clean, intact, functional, and accounted for.
4. Assemble instrument trays in a manner that maintains device sterility while ensuring ease of access for end users.
5. Utilize count sheets to guarantee accurate assembly of all trays.
6. Interface with the department's tracking system for all processing functions.
7. Package or containerize instrument sets in accordance with the manufacturer's standards.
8. Load sterilizer carts carefully to prevent damage to packaged items, ensuring compliance with recommended loading practices.
9. Perform daily sterilizer tests on all sterilizers, operating them according to the manufacturer's instructions and ensuring biological monitoring for every load.
10. Document all load contents, linking them to the tracking system, and confirm correct parameters for each cycle while monitoring sterilizers.
11. Unload sterilizers with care to avoid compromising items and store them according to the tracking system's designated locations.
12. Maintain cleanliness within the department and ensure all processing equipment is properly sanitized.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
Licensure/Certification:
Preferred certifications include CRCST, CBSPDT, and CIS.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing Department (CSPD) is preferred.
Additional Information:
This position may require weekend supervision, offering flexible hours ranging from 24 to 40 hours per week. Shifts may vary between 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM on weekends.
Certifications: Certified Registered Central Service Technician, Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, Certified Instrument Specialist.
