Advanced Practice Nurse in Emergency Medicine

Delphi Healthcare is in search of a dedicated and proficient Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to enhance our committed healthcare team within the Emergency Department of our rural facility. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in emergency medicine, demonstrating the ability to deliver exceptional, patient-focused care while maintaining a healthy work-life balance in a rural healthcare environment. This position necessitates the capability to operate autonomously, collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, and address a diverse array of acute medical situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Evaluation and Triage:
- Perform comprehensive initial evaluations of patients arriving at the emergency department.
- Assess the urgency of each patient's condition and prioritize care accordingly.
- Initiate necessary diagnostic procedures and interventions based on clinical findings.
- Administer and prescribe medications and treatments in line with established protocols.
- Execute procedures such as wound management, suturing, splinting, and other minor surgical tasks.
- Oversee acute and critical conditions, including trauma, cardiac incidents, respiratory emergencies, and more.
- Engage collaboratively with the emergency department team, including physicians, nurses, paramedics, and support personnel.
- Consult with specialists and coordinate the transfer of patients needing advanced care to larger facilities when required.
- Ensure precise and comprehensive medical records, documenting patient evaluations, treatments, and responses to care.
- Complete necessary documentation for billing and legal purposes promptly.
- Inform patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
- Encourage health and safety education to mitigate future emergencies in the rural community.
- Contribute to disaster planning and response, including participation in drills and training sessions.
- Assist in the development and execution of emergency protocols for the rural area.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing emergency care services in the rural hospital.
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintain current licensure and certifications, including ACLS, PALS, and others as mandated.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant in New York State.
- Prior experience in an emergency department setting is highly preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rural healthcare environment.
- Willingness to be on-call and work flexible shifts as necessary.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a rural context.
