About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Alden North Shore Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and supervision to our nursing assistants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Direct Patient Care: Deliver high-quality patient care, ensuring the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
  • Supervise Nursing Assistants: Supervise and instruct nursing assistants on various topics to promote job knowledge and ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Develop and Implement Care Plans: Assist in developing written plans of care for each patient, identifying problems and needs, and attending care plan conferences as directed.
  • Communicate Effectively: Report concerns, complaints, and changes in patient conditions to the Administrator and physicians, and counsel/discipline nursing personnel as necessary.
  • Lead by Example: Create and maintain a positive and calm environment, promoting a culture of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis.
  • Stay Up-to-Date: Attend and participate in continuing education programs, and recommend equipment and supply needs to the Director of Nursing.
  • Document Patient Care: Chart nurses' notes in an informative and descriptive manner, reflecting the care provided and the patient's response.
  • Perform Administrative Tasks: Complete accident/incident reports, and perform routine charting duties as required.
  • Collaborate with Physicians: Receive telephone orders from physicians, record new/changed diet orders, and arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered.
  • Ensure Quality Care: Review medication records for completeness and accuracy, and administer medications and treatments as ordered.
Requirements
  • Current RN or LPN License: Possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN or LPN in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin.
  • CPR Certification: Possess current CPR certification or become certified within two weeks of employment.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, and demonstrate interest and/or knowledge in care of the aged.
  • Communication and Leadership: Possess the ability to make independent decisions, communicate effectively with patients, family members, and staff, and demonstrate leadership and supervisory ability.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to move intermittently throughout the workday, cope with mental and emotional stress, and possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics to function adequately.
