Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Urologist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Urologist, you will be responsible for performing basic urologic procedures, evaluating and treating patients with urologic disorders, and providing consultation services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic urologic procedures, such as cystoscopy, ultrasound guided prostate biopsy, transurethral resections, bladder biopsy, ureteral stent insertion, retrogrades, and orchiectomy.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with urologic disorders, including those with complex medical conditions.
  • Provide consultation services in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including responding to patient telephone calls and informing patients of test/lab results.
  • Renew medication prescriptions, give telephone or e-mail advice to other providers, and perform administrative duties as needed.
  • Enter accurate, complete, and timely progress notes for each episode of care in the patient's electronic record.
  • Maintain the proper use, maintenance, and calibration of specialized equipment used in the assessment and care of patients.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and infection control standards, regulations, and work practices, as well as ergonomic standards.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, disaster preparedness, and other responsibilities assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS), Surgical Care ICC.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Working Conditions

The incumbent will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with patients, healthcare professionals, and administrative staff. The incumbent will be required to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
