POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Automation and Electrical Systems Engineer will be responsible for the planning, engineering, and design execution of electrical, control, and automation systems for capital projects. This role includes overseeing engineering and design processes conducted by both internal teams and external partners, while providing essential technical support to the project management and engineering teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems design within the food, beverage, or industrial manufacturing sectors, encompassing drawing development, execution/audit, specifications, and construction validation (REQUIRED).
OR
An Associate Degree in Engineering or a related field with at least 7 years of experience in control systems design in the food, beverage, or industrial manufacturing sectors, including similar responsibilities as mentioned above (REQUIRED).
Experience with large-scale capital expenditure projects is essential.
KEY SKILLS:
- Essential: Ability to work independently
- Essential: Excellent communication and writing skills
- Essential: Proficiency in PLC programming (Rockwell Automation, Modicon) and PC-Based HMI/SCADA systems (iFIX and Ignition)
- Essential: Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems design and validation
- Essential: Familiarity with PC operating systems and industrial networking
- Essential: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Essential: Capability to collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, operations staff, and maintenance personnel
- Essential: Ability to interpret control schematics, wiring diagrams, and power distribution single line diagrams
- Important: Understanding of Electrical Safety and Hazardous Energy Control Procedures (HECP)
- Important: Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and electrical installation practices
- Beneficial: Experience with machine risk assessments
- Beneficial: Familiarity with power distribution systems
- Beneficial: Competence in AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Adobe Acrobat
- Beneficial: Experience with Siemens PLC design and programming
- Required: Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
- Required: Ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing ladders and stairs
- Required: Steel toe footwear is mandatory and must be provided by the candidate.
