About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Investigator to join our team at the Ohio Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Investigations District 1 Youngstown.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate criminal acts related to motor vehicle laws, including odometer tampering, forgeries, and falsifications.
  • Enforce Ohio motor vehicle laws and agency guidelines, including locating and contacting individuals whose driving and/or registration privileges have been suspended.
  • Participate in investigations and criminal prosecution of violators of motor vehicle laws, including consulting with prosecutors and filing charges.
  • Collect and preserve physical evidence, including photographs, videotapes, and computer data.
  • Provide expertise to law enforcement and government agencies in retrieving digitized images and investigating fraudulent driver licenses and ID cards.

Requirements:

  • 24 months of experience as a law enforcement officer or completion of an associate core program in criminology, criminal justice, or law enforcement.
  • 18 months of experience in conducting criminal investigations, including performing field interviews and interrogations, field surveillance, and field information and evidence gathering techniques.
  • Valid driver's license.
