Classification Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Classification Officer to join our team. As a Classification Officer, you will be responsible for the overall development and coordination of the receiving, booking, and maintenance of records for newly arriving detainees/inmates. You will maintain the custody, care, and control of detainees/inmates, oversee and monitor detainee/inmate activities, and enforce policies and procedures of the company and contracting agency.

• Develop and coordinate the intake process and master roster of newly arrived detainees/inmates assigned to the facility.
• Confirm the facility has legal authority to admit and accurately identify the incoming detainees/inmates. Review admission documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Search incoming detainee/inmate property for contraband and conduct shakedowns as needed.
• Coordinate and monitor detainee/inmate movements, transfer records, conduct counts, and provide emergency response as required.
• Supervise detainees/inmates in the intake area and provide security in other areas as needed.
• Prepare reports and maintain daily logs as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or a related field preferred.
• Three years of experience working in a correctional setting, one of which was in a position requiring supervisory capabilities.
• Booking or intake experience preferred.
• Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, and able to command the respect and confidence of detainees/inmates and staff.
• Must have a proven work history with sound abilities to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must have the ability to maintain records files and prepare reports.
