Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist - Critical Care Specialist will be responsible for providing advanced respiratory care to critically ill patients in our hospital's critical care units. This role requires a strong foundation in respiratory care, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement respiratory care plans for critically ill patients in collaboration with the attending physician.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate with the healthcare team to modify the care plan as needed.
  • Assume a teaching role for mechanical ventilation and other respiratory care procedures for residents and fellows.
  • Participate in daily patient care rounds and provide guidance to the clinical team.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including ERT and Code Blue emergencies.
  • Mentor new staff members in acute care areas and assume the duties of chronic pulmonary disease patient navigator.
  • Develop and participate in case management and discharge planning for patients with respiratory conditions.
  • Direct patient and family education on post-hospital respiratory home care needs.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Active status with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) recommended.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care respiratory therapy.
