Guitar Instructor

Harper College is seeking a skilled guitar instructor to join our Community Music and Arts Center. As a guitar instructor, you will provide high-quality instruction to students of all ages and skill levels in private and group settings.

• Teach weekly private and group guitar classes to non-credit adult students and children enrolled in our programs.
• Organize and maintain a consistent teaching schedule.
• Communicate with parents and adult students regarding scheduling, progress, recitals, practice, and lesson sign-ups.
• Prepare students for recitals, performances, and activities.
• Participate in recruitment activities within and outside the division.
• Integrate technology into the delivery of instruction.
• Attend department and faculty meetings.
• Be active on social media outlets to promote the program.

• Formal training and a degree in music or a related field are preferred, but not required.
• Expertise in a particular musical style or tradition is also encouraged.
• Minimum 1-3 years of successful teaching experience in any style.
• Ability to communicate ideas and concepts to students of different ages and backgrounds.
• Positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to work with professionals in other disciplines.
