Job OverviewCN Guidance and Counseling Services is seeking a skilled Senior Counselor to join our team. As a Senior Counselor, you will play a vital role in managing the daily operations of our residential program, providing housing and supports to individuals with psychiatric disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Program Supervisor in managing the daily operations of the residential program.
- Provide direct care services and assist in establishing staffing patterns and securing site coverage as needed.
- Provide counseling, behavioral interventions, restorative services, and assistance in negotiating community activities and crisis management services.
- Monitor, train, and assist residents in household maintenance activities to ensure a clean, safe, and homelike environment.
- Provide training, supervision, and assistance to residents in daily activities, including food purchases, recreational activities, and meal planning and personal care activities.
- Assist residents in developing meaningful service plan goals and provide supports to assist residents in achieving their goals.
- Provide residents in licensed housing programs with restorative services appropriate to their needs, treating residents with dignity and respect.
- Document interactions with residents and resident progress in accordance with agency policies and standards.
- Assist the Program Supervisor in the oversight of the sites to ensure a clean, safe, and homelike environment.
- Supervise the day-to-day management of the residence in cooperation with the Program Supervisor, including food purchases, recreational activities, meal planning, and personal care activities of residents.
- Assist in the oversight of program and resident finances.
- Oversee fire safety training activities and ensure fire drills are conducted in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Oversee and participate in all Medicaid billable activities under the leadership of the Program Supervisor, and/or ensure that all documentation is current and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in weekly Senior Counselor Quality Assurance meetings.
- Oversee the management of medications in compliance with agency policies.
- Maintain collateral contacts with outside service providers and participate in case conferences as scheduled.
- Assist the Program Supervisor in the oversight of records and ensure appropriate documentation of client activities as well as the maintenance of client records in accordance with agency standards.
- Provide transportation as needed using a personal vehicle when the agency vehicle is not available.
- Promptly report all emergencies, incidents, maintenance, and safety issues to the Program Supervisor.
- Co-lead team meetings as scheduled.
- Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress.
- Identify and implement quality improvement trainings and activities as part of professional development goals.
- Complete Quality Improvement Training during onboarding and participate in Quality Improvement refresher training as needed.
- Ability to cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees that respects their individual strengths, views, and experiences.
- Adherence to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Health and Safety Awareness: Include any relevant knowledge or experience regarding health and safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
