Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Department Support Technician to join our team at Hillsboro Medical Center. As a key member of our emergency department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed personnel in maintaining inventory and reporting discrepancies.
  • Schedule and coordinate ordered services, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Scanning clinical information into charts after review by clinical staff.
  • Coordinate the safekeeping of patient valuables, including labeling with patient name.
  • Coordinate clinical information to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain physician roster with updates.
  • Coordinate and/or transport specimens to the lab.
  • Request medical records from other facilities as directed by clinical staff.
  • Perform and document tasks and activities in a timely, accurate, and systematic manner, following hospital charting procedures.
  • Promptly report equipment failure to facilitate repairs.
  • Maintain resource documents, including procedure manuals, reference books, and user manuals.
  • Attend and participate in departmental staff meetings, including in-services.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Decision Making and Budget Responsibilities
  • Impact limited to the employee.
  • No budget responsibility.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year patient care experience in an acute care or pre-hospital setting.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification preferred upon hire, or required within 90 days of hire.
  • EMT, CNA, MA certification or equivalent at time of hire and not required to maintain thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced education in a healthcare field.
  • Phlebotomy certification or equivalent experience.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
