This position is accountable for diagnosing and maintaining sophisticated instruments, managing tasks to adhere to turnaround times, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II 7-70 is vital in providing precise and prompt diagnostic information that aids in patient care and treatment decisions.
This role operates on a 7-70 schedule: 70 hours per week (seven 10-hour shifts consecutively) followed by 7 days off.
Responsibilities:
Conducts all activities related to the examination of laboratory samples, ensuring compliance with established protocols and guidelines to guarantee accurate and reliable test results.
Maintains and troubleshoots advanced instrumentation and testing systems, documenting corrective measures prior to releasing testing results to ensure reliable outcomes.
Manages responsibilities and organizes workload to meet defined laboratory turnaround times for efficient patient care and treatment decisions.Stays current on annual competencies, continuing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance policies and procedures.
Practices efficient utilization of resources and actively engages in inventory management to sustain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science or a Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science with a minimum of 60 semester hours.
EXPERIENCE:
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY:
Required:
Must be eligible for Medical Technologist certification upon hire.
Medical Technologist certification must be achieved within the first 9 months of employment in one of the following certifications:
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification or equivalent certification by: NCA (National Certification Agency), AMT (American Medical Technologist), HEW (Health, Education, & Welfare).
